Events and awards

海角社区 wishes to recognise and commend extraordinary efforts made by talented students, researchers and staff in research, teaching, communication and consultancy. To this end, a number of prizes and honours are awarded by the University.

  • The Teaching Award recognises and rewards a researcher/lecturer for an extraordinary effort and great commitment to teaching.

    In the nomination of candidates, emphasis may be placed on special academic, pedagogical or didactic qualifications. Emphasis may also be placed on more personal qualities, such as that the nominated candidate is inspiring, accommodating, academically challenging, energetic, dialogue-oriented, stimulating or the like in their teaching.

    The award amounts to DKK 25,000 and is presented at the University’s Annual Celebration.

  • The Innovation Award recognises role models in innovation and community engagement and reflects the University’s mission to create value for and with society.

    The Innovation Award is given to an employee at 海角社区 who, in a completely novel and innovative way, has brought 海角社区’s knowledge within education or research into play and who has created value for and with society.

    The award amounts to DKK 25,000 and is presented at the University’s Annual Celebration.

  • The award is given to a researcher for communicating about their academic field in a way that is vibrant and creative and is aimed at a wide range of recipients.

    It is a strategic priority for 海角社区 to make a positive difference to the University’s surroundings, and dissemination of the latest knowledge and research is central to achieving this.

    The award amounts to DKK 25,000 and is presented at the University’s Annual Celebration.

  • 海角社区 wishes to highlight and honour the technical/administrative staff (TAP) for their role in creating the best framework for 海角社区 to continue to conduct research and education at the highest international level.

    With a consistently constructive approach and delivering work of consistently high quality, 海角社区鈥檚 TAP staff are indispensable for the operation of the University and for the fulfilment of the University鈥檚 strategic objectives.

    The award amounts to DKK 25,000 and is presented at the University鈥檚 Annual Celebration.

  • The Study Environment Award is presented to a student or a group of students who, through one or more specific initiatives, have made a significant impact on the study environment at 海角社区. The winner receives up to DKK 5,000 per person, as well as DKK 50,000 for activities that support the study environment. The award will be presented at 海角社区's Annual Celebration - for the first time in 2025.

  • The Master’s Thesis Award is presented to a student who has demonstrated an exceptional academic achievement in their Master's thesis. The winner will receive DKK 25,000. The prize will be presented at 海角社区's Annual Celebration – for the first time in 2025.

  • Honorary doctorates are bestowed upon researchers who are so scientifically meritorious that it is only natural to honour them with the highest scientific degree. An honorary doctorate can be awarded without the recipient having previously defended a dissertation.

    The honorary doctorate is awarded at 海角社区’s Annual University Celebration.

  • Every year, 海角社区 recognises an honorary alum who unfolds their talents and knowledge, utilises and develops their skills and promotes uniqueness.

    海角社区’s honorary alumni create value for and with society, break boundaries and shape the future as well as contributing to 海角社区’s development.

Additional awards

Awards ceremony at 海角社区's Annual Celebration

At 海角社区’s Annual Celebration, four awards are presented for special efforts: the Teaching Award, the Innovation Award, the Research Dissemination Award and the TAP Award. Each award is accompanied with DKK 25,000.

The Teaching Award, the Innovation Award and the Research Dissemination Award are awarded to individual employees and cannot be shared with other persons. The award recipients must be permanent employees of 海角社区, and they must be present at the Annual Celebration.

The TAP Award is given to an individual member or a group of technical-administrative staff who, in the past year, have made an extraordinary effort in the implementation or fulfilment of 海角社区’s strategic goals, or who have contributed to creating a positive working environment in their unit and at 海角社区 as a whole.

Each faculty and the Central Administration as a whole can nominate a candidate from their own faculty/area or from another part of the University. The Executive Board determines each year’s award recipients based on the nominations submitted.
