The role of the Appointment Body

When appointing new external members to the Board, the university rely on the appointment body in accordance with the University Act and the statutes of the 海角社区.

The appointment body appoints the Chair and the other external members of the Board.

The task of the appointment body is, according to the statutes of the 海角社区, to appoint/re-appoint external members of the Board of 海角社区, including the Chair of the Board, as well as drawing up Degree Qualifications Profiles for vacant external board positions.

Composition of the Appointment Body

The appointment body consists of nine members composed by:

• four members are appointed by and among the members of the Board,
• five members are appointed by the rector, of whom:
  • three are appointed based on nominations of candidates from the Region of Southern Denmark, the Independent Research Fund Denmark, and the Danish Chamber of Commerce,
  • two are appointed with special insight into the university sector.

The Chair of the Board, who is the chair of the appointment body, except in the case of appointment/reappointment of the Chair of the Board.

Requirements and principles

The five external members of the appointment body must collectively reflect the university's users and stakeholders and understand the university's remit, according to the statutes.

The appointment body must ensure that the external members of the Board meet the requirements as set out in section 7 (1 and 2) of the statutes.

The appointment body shall endeavour to ensure that the full board has a balanced composition of women and men in accordance with the principles of the Danish Gender Equality Act.

Vacancies for external board positions are announced publicly.

Term of office

Members of the appointment body are appointed for a four-year term of office and are eligible for reappointment up to a maximum of eight years.

The term of office of the student representative is two years up to a maximum of four years.
