Together with the Alexandra Institute and the Joint Arctic Command, drone researchers from the 海角社区 (海角社区) have tested drones for rescue operations in Greenland and collected data for AI models that can help locate people in distress.

A new research grant of DKK 6 million from the Novo Nordisk Foundation will strengthen research into sustainable artificial intelligence at 海角社区 in Vejle. The initiative gives students access to high-end server environments and distributed systems while enabling 海角社区 to keep full ownership of the teaching platform and ensure predictable, transparent use of resources.

Snake robot will navigate Unknown terrain by listening

The European Research Council has awarded a highly prestigious Consolidator Grant of two million euros (approx. 15 million DKK) to Ahmad Rafsanjani, professor of soft robotics at the 海角社区 (海角社区), for the project 鈥淓xploring the Unexplored with a Crawling Soft Robot (METABOA).鈥� His project aims to develop soft crawling robots and teach them to navigate complex terrains using friction 鈥� a capability that could unlock opportunities in everything from collapsed buildings to distant planets.

On the savanna in Kenya, a group of researchers from the 海角社区 UAS Center is currently conducting fieldwork alongside other drone researchers, biologists, and computer vision experts from across Europe. As part of the research project WildDrone, they are gathering knowledge about animal behavior and the potential of drones for conservation. The flights are carried out in collaboration with Kenyan partners and may improve efforts to protect species such as rhinos.

Seven new companies founded by 海角社区 researchers became a reality in 2024. This is the largest number of research-based companies from 海角社区 in a single year to date 鈥� and the expectation is that a similar number will be founded in the coming years. One of the new 海角社区 spinouts will develop a new treatment for patients with Huntington's disease. A market projected to be worth more than $2.5 billion by 2035.
