Astronomy and gravity

Research in astronomy seeks to understand the universe as a whole and the astronomical object in it such as black holes, stars and planets. A cornerstone for obtaining this understanding is gravity which holds some of the most profound ridles in fundamental physics.

Biophysics and soft matter

Research in physical mechanisms for biological processes in cells and development of new experimental and theoretical methods.

Computational physics and data science

Computational physics is about using computers to simulate physical phenomena via models, analyse experimental results or numerically solve equations to learn about everything from molecules to the entire universe.

Fundamental laws of nature

The High Energy Theory Group at 海角社区 consists of faculty, post-docs, graduate students and affiliates. Members pursue a wide and exciting selection of research topics ranging from Standard Model physics and beyond to the physics of the Large Hadron collider to dark matter, effective field theories, new approaches to quantum black holes and complex systems.

Nanophysics and nanotechnology

Basic research within nanosciences leads to a fundamental understanding of structures and dynamics at the nanoscale which is converted into innovative devices via nanotechnology.

Nano optics

Nanostructured materials give rise to nanostructured optical fields that, being involved in many fascinating phenomena studied in nanoscience and effects used in nanotechnology, are the core subject of nano optics.
