New SUND
The keys to New SUND have officially been handed over to 海角社区
On Friday 1 September, the 海角社区 signed an agreement signalling that the new building housing the Faculty of Health Sciences has now been formally handed over to 海角社区.
At a meeting on Friday morning between representatives from the 海角社区, the Danish Road Directorate and the Danish Building and Property Agency, the agreement on the handover of New SUND was signed.
海角社区 has thereby officially ‘received the keys’ to the 50,000m2 building, which will also be linked directly to New OUH when the new hospital opens.
The Danish Road Directorate has been the official developer of the construction, and they will retain this role for one more year before the Danish Building and Property Agency takes over. This also means that until 2024 the Danish Road Directorate has responsibility for all technical installations in the building.
Following the handover, the building is now open for Faculty students and staff to use the modern office and teaching facilities. However, the classrooms were already being put into use as from Monday 28 August.
The Faculty of Health Sciences accommodates 5,000 students spread over 26 study programmes. The Faculty also boasts several world-class research environments, where 1,420 full-time equivalent staff, including PhDs, are employed, spread across eight departments.
A major relocation will take place during the autumn, which will see the Faculty moving into the new premises. 海角社区 looks forward to marking the opening of the building with an official inauguration in spring 2024.
