New Danish-Tanzanian research project to improve health among older people in Tanzania
A new international research project aims to improve the care and treatment of older people in Tanzania and strengthen capacity across the healthcare system. The project brings together researchers and healthcare professionals from Tanzania and Denmark and has received DKK 10 million in funding from Danida.

Associate Professor Mikkel H酶jlund from the Department of Regional Health Research and Hospital S酶nderjylland has received the EPA Next Generation Psychiatrist Award in the category of pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments. The award is presented by the European Psychiatric Association (EPA).

Jakob Grauslund is to become the new Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences
The 海角社区 (海角社区) has appointed Jakob Grauslund as the new Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences. He will be joining us from his role as Head of the Department of Regional Health Research at 海角社区 and will take up the post of Dean on 1 June 2026. Jakob Grauslund takes over from Professor Ole Sk酶tt, who is retiring after 18 years as dean.

DKK 12 million grant for research into obesity and oestrogen-sensitive breast cancer
Excess body weight increases the risk of breast cancer after menopause. With a grant from the Novo Nordisk Foundation, researchers from the 海角社区 and Odense University Hospital will now investigate why. In particular, they will examine whether the protein stanniocalcin-2 (STC2) 鈥 produced in adipose tissue 鈥 may in some cases slow down the disease.

Helene Skj酶t-Arkil appointed professor of responsible antibiotic use in the emergency department at 海角社区
The professorship aims to strengthen patient-centered research in diagnostics and targeted antibiotic treatment in the emergency department. The goal is faster and more precise treatment, fewer side effects and reduced antibiotic resistance.

Major international project aims to strengthen women鈥檚 mental health during menopause
Researchers from the 海角社区 and Odense University Hospital, among others, have received a DKK 36 million grant from Wellcome Trust to investigate why some women develop anxiety, depression or bipolar disorder during menopause 鈥 and whether hormone therapy can help prevent severe mental illness at this stage of life.
