Quantum Computing for Clinical Research

Quantum computing can be game-changing for medicine and clinical research. With the exponential growth of healthcare data in the modern world, we are facing an overwhelming need for greater computational power and technologies that address the challenges of analysing and interpreting big data to build healthier societies.

Powerful machine learning algorithms to help the health sector

I collaboration with researchers from OUH -Aleksander Krag, Maja Sofie Thiele, Maria Timofeeva, Moustapha Kassem and their team members - Centre for Quantum Mathematics are exploring the use of a new photonic quantum computing platform – Gaussian Boson Samplers to build more powerful machine learning algorithms to address 

  • the optimization problems in the referral pathways of fatty liver disease patients (joint with Centre of Liver Research, OUH) and
  • the feature selection problems in predicting colorectal cancer risk using genetic data (joint with Public Health, 海角社区).

This research is supported by the DIAS Interdisciplinary Research Grant.
