New Assistant Professor in Theoretical and Computational Physics
POLIMA is very happy to announce that P. Andr茅 D. Gon莽alves (Andr茅) will be joining our team as an Assistant Professor starting February 1st.
André’s research spans various areas within theoretical nanophotonics and condensed-matter theory, including the optoelectronic properties of 2D materials, strong-coupling nanophotonics, quantum-mechanical effects in the optical response of graphene–metal heterostructures, and quantum nonlocal corrections in plasmon-enhanced light–matter interactions.

For the past four years, Andr茅 was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the world-renowned ICFO 鈥� The Institute of Photonic Sciences, in Castelldefels (Barcelona), Spain. During this time, he not only consolidated his expertise in the areas mentioned above but also expanded his research to include topics such as free-electron鈥搇ight interactions in ultrafast electron spectromicroscopies and electron鈥搇ight鈥搈atter interactions in polariton-supporting nanostructures.
