About the Unit
The Clinical Psychology Unit serves as the organisational home for researchers working on mental disorders, diagnostics, treatment, and psychological interventions. The unit contributes to the Department of Psychology’s research and teaching with a strong emphasis on the integration of clinical practice and scientific evidence.
Research Focus
Researchers in the unit work across a broad spectrum of topics – from fundamental understandings of psychopathology to the development and evaluation of evidence based treatment methods. The aim is to enhance the quality of psychological assessment, treatment, and preventative initiatives across different populations and sectors.
Research areas include:
- Treatment research, including psychotherapy, manualised interventions, and implementation within the healthcare system.
- Trauma and stress research, such as PTSD and psychological responses to critical incidents.
- Psychological assessment and diagnostics, including the development of measurement tools and screening instruments.
- Child and adolescent psychology, with a focus on early intervention and developmental disorders.
Academic Collaboration
The unit functions as a hub for researchers collaborating across projects, research groups, and international clinical and academic networks. Its organisation supports strong links to clinical practice and encourages methodological diversity.
