Emil Clausen has been a PhD student at POLIMA since May 2026 under the supervision of Prof. Joel D. Cox and Asst. Prof. Nicolas Ubrig. He obtained his bachelor’s degree from Aarhus University, with a focus on theoretical physics and numerical methods. He performed his bachelor’s thesis at the Danish Centre for Particle Therapy where he compared the use of photon and proton therapy for cancer treatment. During his master’s at Aarhus University, Emil focused on theoretical descriptions of optics, light-matter interactions and quantum materials before transitioning into experimental work at the Ultrafast Dynamics of Quantum Materials group under supervision of Assoc. Prof. Simon Elliot Wall. Here he successfully expanded the capabilities of a pump-probe setup to include a while light probe beam enabling characterization of phonon behavior in transition metal oxides across a broad range of probe energies. His current studies at POLIMA combines his theoretical and experimental skillset to realize a new current-driven nanophotonic device for light generation.
