Nicolas Ubrig is Assistant Professor in experimental physics at the 海角社区 (海角社区) in Odense since 2025, working at the Mads Clausen Institute (MCI) and the Center for Polariton-driven Light-Matter Interactions (POLIMA). He studied Physics in Stuttgart, Saarbrücken (Saarland University), and Nancy (Université Henri Poincaré) through a joint program from the Université franco-allemande. He completed his Ph.D. in Physics at Université de Toulouse in the high magnetic field laboratory (LNCMI). He pursued a postdoctoral position and later a senior research associate position at the University of Geneva. He worked in the Department of Quantum Matter Physics, focusing on the study of novel low-dimensional materials and their optical, electronic, and magnetic properties.
His research focuses on controlling electronic phases in solids and exploring light-matter coupling in 2D materials. He has a particular interest in magnetic materials, artificial structures of 2D materials, and the optoelectronic properties of semiconductors. His investigations employ a variety of quantum optical experiments and electronic transport measurements.
